Maryland Courses

The following State of Maryland training is offered:

Maryland Handgun Qualification License (MHQL) Class

Course Length: 4-5 hours
Special Requirements: Fire a minimum, of one live round.
Description: This class is required in order to apply for a Maryland Handgun Qualification License (MHQL). Then, a valid MHQL is required in order to apply to purchase a regulated handgun in Maryland (with certain exceptions). The course is a minimum of 4 hours, and the firing of at least one live round is required my the Maryland State Police. All materials, firearm and ammunition are provided.

Maryland Handgun (Wear & Carry) Permit (MHP) Training

Course Length: 16 hours (original), 8 hours (renewal).
Special Requirements: Complete a PPC Course of fire
Description: This course is required for Special Police Officers, Security Guards, Private Investigators, Armored Car Drivers and Individuals to in order to apply for, or renew a Maryland Handgun Permit.  New applicants must complete a 16 hour course. Renewal applicants must complete an 8 hour refresher course every three years. All class materials are provided. Firearm and ammunition can be provided upon request.

Maryland Certified Handgun Instructor (MQHI) Development

An 8 hour course that will prepare the experienced handgun instructor to qualify individuals for a Maryland Handgun Permit.
